Wharton Online Receives Accreditation for Continuing Education Courses
The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania recently received accreditation to offer continuing-education classes online, making it the first business school to receive this accreditation.
Wharton Online, the school’s digital learning platform, was awarded the “accredited provider” status from the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET). Wharton may now offer certified Continuing Education Units (CEUs) to adult learners who want to advance their careers through Wharton’s online business education programs. Beginning December 1, 2018, all Wharton Online students who complete a course will receive a digital badge through Credly, and can share these badges via social networks, resumes, and Web sites. Wharton Online was launched in 2013. It offers business courses to over 150,000 online clients.
Anne Trumbore, Senior Director of Wharton Online, said, “We are proud to receive IACET accreditation since it is widely acknowledged as one of the highest achievements in continuing education. We’re confident that digital credentialing is the future of learning and, as a result, anticipate attracting half a million new users to the Wharton Online platform in the next two years.”
