University of Michigan Ross School of Business Renovated

The University of Michigan Ross School of Business opened its doors to students last week following a $135 million renovation that created more space for students and a unified look for the business school complex’s exterior.

The renovation resulted in 104,000 square feet of new footage inside Jeff T. Blau Hall, the former Computer and Executive Education Building that was demolished to make way for the new structure, as well as 75,000 square feet of renovated space inside the Kresge Business Administration Library. Chuck Amyx, Ross Director of Operations, comments, “We have a facility that is far more usable and functional. What we had before was a two-story building with a lower level. What we have now is more functional and better suited for the way we teach and operate today.”

Jeff T. Blau Hall is the new academic building for Ross and includes nine classrooms, a career services center, and space for staff functions such as operations, finance, and human resources. Atrium spaces provide room for collaboration, and two meeting rooms on the upper level will offer executive education meeting space.

Funded through private gifts, including a $100 million contribution from Michigan alumnus and New York real estate developer Stephen M. Ross, the project will also include exterior building finishes to Sam Wyly Hall, the Business Administration Executive Residence, and the Hill Street Parking Structure.
