Thunderbird School of Global Management New Custom Executive MBA

ACI partner Thunderbird School of Global Management has just started an innovative new custom EMBA program with SABIC (Saudi Basic Industries Corporation), which is currently the largest public company in Saudi Arabia. Courses will take place both at the SABIC Academy in Riyadh and at Thunderbird’s campus in Glendale, Arizona.

SABIC chose to work with Thunderbird on a custom EMBA program after seeing the success of a similar program they offered to LG in South Korea. The Saudi Arabia program came about after 26 SABIC employees participated in a two-year pilot program at the Thunderbird campus in Arizona, and received EMBA degrees. Those employees will mentor the new class of EMBA participants.

Saudi Arabia is quickly growing as a global player in industry, and this program aims to facilitate that growth. Thunderbird professors researched and learned all they could about SABIC’s industry – manufacturing chemicals, fertilizers, plastics, and metals. They created custom content based on SABIC’s current and future needs.

Thunderbird Professor Paul Kinsinger and Managing Director Beth Stoops have worked with SABIC CEO Mohammed Al-Mady (among others) to create a program that works with employees’ schedules and content that relates to their workdays. They also have SABIC leaders come in as guest speakers, helping to tie in course content with practical experience.
