The Thunderbird School of Global Management, established on a vacant U.S. Army base in 1946 as the American Institute for Foreign Trade, recently celebrated its 70th anniversary. According to Allen Morrison, CEO of Thunderbird School of Global Management, Thunderbird is still unique in the way it trains business managers, “What they teach at traditional business schools is a highly U.S.-centered approach. Where Thunderbird is different in a meaningful way is that we truly have a global perspective of leadership models and one of the strongest expertise in the world for teaching a multicultural perspective of leadership.”

Thunderbird has consistently ranked among the world’s best for global business education, and Thunderbird’s recent partnership with Arizona State University (ASU) has been beneficial, especially because of ASU’s transdisciplinary approach and many resources. Thunderbird is looking to expand its reach and will offer its core degree, the Master’s of Global Management, online and in other countries. In addition, Thunderbird plans to open more “hub offices,” which partner with local schools to offer Thunderbird programs, connects with alumni, and find jobs for graduates. The school currently has hub offices in Geneva and Moscow, and one will open soon in Dubai.
