The Thunderbird School of Global Management and Arizona State University (ASU) recently signed a final agreement to make Thunderbird part of ASU. This final agreement reflects the approval of the Arizona Board of Regents and the Higher Learning Commission as well as resolution of discussions between the parties following a tentative agreement in July 2014. Michael Crow, ASU president, expects this to benefit both institutions, creating new opportunities for students and providing a platform for showcasing ASU’s strengths to new audiences worldwide.

Allen Morrison, formerly professor of global management and Kristian Gerhard Jebsen Chair for Responsible Leadership in the Maritime Industry at the International Institute for Management Development (IMD), has been named chief executive officer and director general of the new Thunderbird. Morrison is director of the IMD Global CEO Center and has also served as a senior advisor for global management education and executive education initiatives at ASU. He has authored or co-authored eight books and more than 60 articles and case studies, in addition to being published in Harvard Business Review, Sloan Management Review, Strategic Management Journal, Journal of Management, and the Journal of International Business Studies.

Thunderbird School of Global Management at ASU will initially offer degree programs including a one-year, three-semester Master of Global Management and a two-year Master of Art in Global Affairs and Management. The school will also emphasize executive-education opportunities and will offer Graduate Certificates (requiring the completion of five courses) in Global Management, Global Affairs, and Global Development.
