Stanford Graduate School of Business Launches Online Executive Education Certificate on Personal Leadership
Stanford Graduate School of Business announced on February 28, 2018, that they would be offering a new immersive online executive education program, Stanford LEAD: Personal Leadership Certificate.
This yearlong program, to begin September 12, 2018, will leverage the Stanford LEAD learning model and will provide a rigorous, connection-driven educational journey that allows participants to focus on personal outcomes and goals. Sarah Soule, Faculty Director of the Stanford LEAD: Personal Leadership Certificate, says, “This program will develop leaders who are compassionate, courageous, and curious, and who exhibit the humility necessary for continuous growth.” She continues, “Personal leadership is best learned through dynamic interactions with others. What’s exciting about this new program is that we’ve developed a curriculum that is hands-on, spans multiple time zones, and bridges physical distance to fully engage participants in an experiential learning environment.”
Participants in this certificate program will take two courses per quarter over a one-year period. At the beginning, they undergo an in-depth evaluation of their leadership proficiency. Coaches help them identify areas for development using Stanford’s proprietary 360-degree feedback tool, in which participants gather constructive feedback and develop a meaningful action plan, creating customized learning journeys.
The program begins with two foundational courses: Foundations of Leadership and Values-Based Leadership. During the following three quarters, participants enroll in six elective courses in leadership competencies such as Building and Using Power, Communicating for Impact, Handling Crises, Leading Effective Teams, Making Sound Decisions, Managing Difficult Conversations, Understanding Organizational Culture, and Using Story for Impact. Participants take part in social and experiential learning and team-based projects, in which they learn and practice leadership concepts while developing a strong global network.
Upon program completion, participants receive a certificate from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and 24 continuing education units (CEUs), which can be used to meet professional recertification requirements or to qualify for professional development or tuition reimbursement from their employers.
This new certificate program joins the Stanford LEAD: Corporate Innovation Certificate, which is now in its third year and sixth cohort. Both certificate programs are taught by the same senior faculty members who teach in Stanford’s MBA and executive programs, and blend a full suite of learning technologies with active synchronous and asynchronous learning, including virtual course sessions, collaborative team-based projects, and interactive experiences.
