The Saïd Business School at Oxford University, founded in 1996 as the successor to Oxford’s School of Management Studies, is the center of learning for Oxford University’s business, management, and finance education. Located in Oxford, England, the Saïd Business School is home to more than 20 different programs that focus specifically on executive education. The Saïd Business School also hosts numerous research centers in subjects ranging from business taxation to retail management to entrepreneurship.
Executive education at Saïd Business School focuses particularly on “transformational thinking,” in which participants are encouraged to question conventional models of management in order to widen their perspectives and gain a greater understanding of various business obstacles and their own abilities. Parallel to the Saïd Business School’s investment in transformational thinking, executive education programs at this school also incorporate non-traditional learning exercises such as “action learning” projects and game-playing. Moreover, distinguished faculty from other Oxford schools foster dialogue and debate concerning the real obstacles and challenges in business in order to contextualize these challenges on the global scale.
Another emphasis of the Saïd Business School’s executive education programs is personal interaction and peer-to-peer learning. To this end, the school formally collaborates with other university departments in order to unite researchers from across the fields of business, economics, mathematics, and computer science in order to broaden participants’ networks. Upon completion of an executive education program, participants gain access to the global Oxford Business Alumni network in order to cultivate connections with senior-level executives from across the globe.
