The New Realities and Changing World of Executive Education

G100, a private group of chief executives of the world’s largest and most significant companies, will be holding its Spring session April 11 – 13, 2016 and its Fall session October 24 – 25, 2016. During these meetings, CEO members gather for off-the record, candid conversations about leadership, strategy, and navigating the current business environment.

Northrup Gruman Chairman Emeritus Dr. Ron Sugar will lead the Spring session. Other scheduled speakers include:

* Alan Mulally, Former President & CEO of The Ford Motor Company, will walk participants through how to lead a turnaround, including first moves to make when taking the reins in the midst of a crisis
* President & CEO of W.L. Gore, Terri Kelly, will discuss how businesses can organize and operate to pursue growth
* Former Chairman of VF Corporation, Mackey McDonald, will discuss practical advice for setting strategy, including how a new CEO can distance his or her strategy from that of the incumbent CEO
* G100 member David Solomon of Goldman Sachs will discuss how to organize capital structure and define the best mix of debt and equity to fund a business

For the Fall session, Frank Blake, former Chairman and CEO of The Home Depot, will be session chair. Confirmed speakers thus far include:

* Jostein Solheim, Chief Executive Officer of Ben & Jerry’s Homemade, will be the dinner speaker.
* Shelly Lazarus, Chairman Emeritus of Ogilvy & Mather, and a director on both the General Electric and Merck boards, will share her insights on brand building in the digital age.

Kendall Crolius, President of G100 Next Generation Leadership, outlined three takeaways from the December 2015 meeting in Silicon Valley:

* Success in technology companies does not come simply from applying technology to new arenas.  Instead, it starts by identifying inadequate products or clumsy services in the world — and then imagining a new way to tackle them.

* After a period of arrogance about the new world of digital technology, the most mature leaders in the Valley are eager for partnerships with established industries.

* Tim Cook is not only a thoughtful leader – he has a remarkable team.  After our conversation at Apple headquarters with Jeff Williams, no one who was there with us is surprised at the news that Jeff has been promoted to Apple COO.
