New Fellowships Offered at Stanford

Stanford University recently announced two new programs that will provide financial support to students, the Stanford USA MBA Fellowship and the Knight-Hennessy Scholars program.

Established by the Stanford Graduate School of Business (GSB), the Stanford USA MBA Fellowship will provide financial support of up to $160,000 over two academic years for up to three students who have a passion for generating economic development in underserved regions of the United States. In its first year, the program will focus specifically on the Midwest. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents and must demonstrate financial need and strong ties to at least one of 12 Midwestern states. In addition, within two years of graduation, the Fellows will be required to return to the Midwest to work in a professional capacity for at least two years.

The Knight-Hennessy Scholars program is another new program at Stanford, and will welcome its inaugural cohort of students to campus in the fall of 2018. This is the largest fully endowed scholars program in the world, and “aims to prepare a new generation of global leaders with the academic foundation and skills needed to develop creative solutions and effect positive change in the world.” The program will cover three years of graduate education in disciplines including Master’s and doctorate level degrees, as well as professional programs in law; business; medicine; engineering; humanities and sciences; education; and earth, energy, and environmental sciences. In its first year, the program will admit 50 scholars.
