MIT Offers New Executive Education Programs
MIT Sloan Executive Education will be offering two new programs this summer: Communication and Persuasion in the Digital Age and Platform Strategy: Building and Thriving in a Vibrant Ecosystem.
Communication and Persuasion in the Digital Age, designed for managers and executives at all levels, focuses on leveraging communication skills to influence attitudes and behaviors within the organization. Participants will learn to be more confident public speakers who can deliver messages to diverse audiences across different media channels, creating compelling stories that motivate people to take action. Faculty members for this course are Edward Schiappa, Professor of Comparative Media Studies, who was named a Distinguished Scholar by the National Communication Association for his original research in persuasion, media effects, and argumentation, and JoAnne Yates, Sloan Distinguished Professor of Management, who developed MIT Sloan’s Managerial Communication curriculum.
During the two-day course, participants hear lectures, discuss cases, and apply the knowledge gained to in-class activities.
Platform Strategy: Building and Thriving in a Vibrant Ecosystem, is a two-day course designed for leaders of corporate strategy and business development, marketing, product and service development, R&D and innovation, and application development and content management. It reviews the successes of platform-oriented companies such as Apple’s iTunes, Amazon, and eBay, which have been dominant, along with exploring emerging platforms.
Pierre Azoulay, Sloan Distinguished Associate Professor of Technological Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Strategic Management, and Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research, and Catherine Tucker, Mark Hyman, Jr. Career Development Professor Associate Professor of Marketing, utilize case studies and Q&A to provide participants with insights into how to succeed in the multisided marketplaces of the future.
