Lawrence O’Donnell, host of The Last Word on MSNBC, is formerly an Emmy Award-winning executive producer and writer for The West Wing. He has also been Senior Adviser to Sen. Daniel Patrick Moynihan (D-NY), and Chief of Staff to the Senate Committee on the Environment and Public Works and the Senate Finance Committee. In addition, he authored Deadly Force and has written for The New York Times, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, and other publications.

His newest book is Playing with Fire: The 1968 Election and the Transformation of American Politics (Penguin Books). In it, O’Donnell explores the presidential election that changed everything, creating American politics as we know it today.
