Indian Institute of Management: Ahmedabad (IIM-A) Executive Education

As India moves forward as a global power, Executive Education continues to grow with it. Executive Education providers such as Harvard Business School, INSEAD, and Wharton have entered the Indian market and The Indian Institute of Management – Ahmedabad (IIM-A) is reorienting its short-term programs to offer more in-depth learning.

IIM-A is shifting the focus of its Executive Education offerings from lower-level management training by creating Management Development Programs (MDPs) for higher, middle, and senior executives. These programs range from three days to three weeks long, and will focus on bridging gaps in leadership at various levels.

Historically, Executive Education in India has been a profitable market. Now, however, institutions are concerned with making a social contribution in addition to making a profit. IIM-A will offer mentoring and coursework for participants, as well as custom programs and Open Enrollment courses. They have set up a committee on Executive Education that will focus on the government and public sector, private sector, and international sector.

For the academic year that started in June 2014, approximately 80 programs will be offered. Open Enrollment programs will focus on agriculture, business policy, communication, computers and information systems, education, finance and accounting, health, marketing, organizational behavior, personnel and industrial relations, production and quantitative methods, and public systems.
