Columbia Global Centers – A Worldwide Network

In response to the challenges and opportunities globalization presents, Columbia University has established a network of Global Centers around the world. There are currently eight Columbia Global Centers, in the following locations:

* Amman
* Beijing
* Mumbai
* Paris
* Istanbul
* Nairobi
* Santiago
* Rio de Janeiro

Each center leverages the university’s intellectual capacities and pursues core activities, while remaining aware of the unique circumstances and priorities of the host region. The centers increase international content in the classroom; supplement the curriculum with international study abroad, internship opportunities, and course offerings; provide resources to attract international students; facilitate research opportunities for students and faculty; and provide ongoing engagement for international alumni.

The network of centers encourages working across disciplinary boundaries in teaching and research, engaging non-Columbia experts and scholars from various regions. Programs and initiatives can be country-specific, regional, multi-regional, or global in nature. Each center builds strong links with universities and institutions in its region, with the goal of having a global reach and involving multiple centers in truly global conversations.
