Chris Matthews, host of Hardball with Chris Matthews on MSNBC, has been a full-time journalist since the late 1980s, serving as Washington Bureau Chief for the San Francisco Examiner. He began his career on television in 1994, hosting a two-hour nightly program on the America’s Talking network. In 1997, he launched Hardball, now on MSNBC. He is the author of six best-selling books: Jack Kennedy: Elusive Hero; Hardball: How Politics is Played, Told by One Who Knows the Game; Kennedy & Nixon: The Rivalry that Shaped Postwar America; Now, Let Me Tell You What I Really Think; American: Beyond our Grand Notions; and Life’s a Campaign.

His newest book is Bobby Kennedy: A Raging Spirit (Simon & Schuster). In it, Matthews focuses on the public and private worlds of Robert Francis Kennedy, a politician who could both get the job done and inspire the public, contributing great clarity about one of the great figures of 20^th century America.
