On September 13, 2017, Cornell Tech officially opened its campus on New York City’s Roosevelt Island, with 30 faculty members and nearly 300 graduate students.
It has been almost seven years since then Mayor Michael Bloomberg announced a competition for a new city-incubated research campus. Cornell University, in Ithaca, New York, has long worked to strengthen ties to New York City, and won the competition for the new campus in part by forming a partnership with the Technion-Israel Institute for Technology.
